Most people cannot live without Someone else to tell them what to think and what to do. Perhaps this is an evolutionary "feature" instead of a bug.

It is not a bug. It is "by design". It is all about saving energy. Why carry a bolder up hill if you can let others do it for you? They may not left the bolder exactly where you need it, but it is free!

Thinking about life, rightness, relationships, all that stuff consumes a lot of energy. It is much easier to pick a religion or an ideology with all answers you need, a list of people to hate and some liders to love, even ones you never meat.
