I'm curious, how many people still own and actively use PC's and / or laptops in 2020? Both? Specs? Limitations you're running into with and older or even newer unit? Does it meet your needs?

Yes I do. It's what I'm currently using.
This computer was given to me by a family member when they got themselves a new one a few years ago. I can't play games on it anymore sadly cause it will crash every time. When I have the money I'll either rebuild this computer or just buy myself a brand new one. I just have to keep putting money to the side until I can afford it.

Last year I upgraded it to an I5 9600K and a GTX 1080 Ti but I accidentally screwed up the motherboard and bricked it. That was right around the time the Ryzen 3's came out so I switched back to team red with an R7 3700X.

Keypad is long ago dead (I use cordless keyboard and mouse (They wanted $400 to replace the key-pad and with a 5-pack of keyboards selling for $75, it's a no-brainer.))
All I use mine for is writing (MS Office/Word 2010) E-mail (Outlook) and web browsing inc. FCN

The lappy works fine and does all I need. Its almost 10 years old now so it can't be far off the time when it decides to die on me.
The devices these days aren't noted for their longevity and I'm surprised its lasted this long. I have money put aside for the day it quits.

I don't know about longevity issues. Seems to me that everything lasts longer and performs better nowadays...
I have a lower end gaming PC. Looking to get more RAM and a better card soon. But right now these are my specs

I'd invest in a better card before touching RAM.
SSD would be an amazing boost to overall performance. You can get a very reasonably priced new 1TB Samsung OEM (used in OEM build PC's) SSD on eBay. They're usually pulled from new systems.
Oh wow , that was a workhorse Proc and is close to a decade old
I changed my Proc a couple of months ago, prior to that I was on Core I7 940 Bloomfield (2008). It was power-hungry but still was working strong. My motherboard gave up and thus had to let go of it, as no X58 chipset motherboards were available.

I'm just using an old laptop a relative didn't need anymore, some 2008ish Sony VAIO. Core 2 Duo clocked at something like 2.3 Ghz, 4 gigs of ram, and I threw a light linux distro on it so I could get past the unholy creature that is Windows Vista. Works pretty good, plays some simple games and does what I need it to. Although eventually I'd like to build a decent desktop pc.
