Thursday // I promised myself I wouldn’t write you anymore Poetry

I don’t quite remember how I used to spend my days. What would I do? What would I say?
Did I always skip breakfasts and let my stomach remain hollow till late evening? Would I power through the day with two shitty cups of black coffee? Did I binge eat while I sat on the couch with a bowl of carrots and a coke in hand?
Am I forgetting or am I avoiding?

This Thursday I woke up late, skipped breakfast and had a cup of coffee and a pepsi can. I returned to bed and laid for another two hours scrolling mindlessly on my phone. I also checked my old phone to see if I received any messages.
I remember dragging myself to wash my face and brush my teeth. My hair was greasy and tangled and my bangs stuck up in odd angles. My feet carried me to the couch and I turned on Netflix.
I watched Charlotte’s Web and I cried, and cried. And I cried some more. My six year old sister was sitting on the floor asking questions the entire time.
I showered late at 8 o’clock. I had coke can and quesadillas for dinner. I talked about my day and made it seem grand. About how I had the time of my life.
At midnight I cried suddenly again and made sure to swallow the sobs.
It’s 1 a.m. and I am listening to music.

I don't remember how my Thursdays used to be. I don’t remember how my weekdays would be spent.

But you do know

I do. I remember all too well.

Within the deepest darkest depths of my emptiness I reside.
With no reason to fight or try and survive.

Memories of a life gone by torment my soul. No reason have I to leave this dark hole.

Then a ray of light beams down upon me.
She gives of herself as if there were no boundries.
But for a moment I feel alive. Then she disappears back into that deep dark silent night. If only that light would shine each day, and chase the darkness in my soul away, the world would be a hospitable place.

Cold

I’m tired

It’s so dark

I can’t recall why

I may have been walking

Trekking through a field of snow

Weighed down by all of my thoughts

Telling myself this was the way

Expecting a kind of change

Trapped by my fears

I fell down

I slept

Cold

More of some thoughts than poetry, but I think it fits

A smile is the window right to everyone's heart.
Without a smile, the world would just be a bad place and dark.
Imagine faces and luscious lips who do not light up and smile.
Imagine a world without showing happiness with a smile .
A smile is contagious, it lights up the world around you.
Smile and let other people participate in your happiness.
Light and brighten up the rest of the gloomy world with your contagious smile.

Ode to a Friend

From my station
in the complex of your memories,
I am, and always will be
wishing you the best on your
progression through life.

Even as the storm of time
batters the fragile house
of your mind

de-addressing each discrete
instance
in the chaos is an image,
however eroded,
of a once-upon-a-time
comrade.

Constant Collapse

There was one, then there were two
Then there was one again
Nothing new

Breathe In, Breathe out
Slowly but Surely
Plenty of time to figure things out

Did you forget?
About the mantra repeated all along,
Inside your lonely head?

Dreaming or Sinking,
You’ll persevere

With or without

oh shrouded in mystery, melodrama and smoke...
the murky night meanders through neon light...
the streets dark and cold where shadows unfold...
and mirrors shimmer with the images they hold...

The sun and moon, distant lovers they,
Each shining bright in their own way.
The sun, a fiery ball of light,
The moon, a pale and gentle sight.

They dance in the sky, never to touch,
Two star-crossed lovers who miss so much.
For the sun must rise as the moon takes flight, And they must part for day and night.

But though they're far, their love remains,
The sun's warmth to the moon's cool refrains. And though they may never meet,
Their bond is strong, a love so sweet.

The sun and moon, forever apart,
But never far from each other's heart.
For in the sky, they still can see,
The other shining, eternally.

Oh sun and moon, your love inspires,
A bond that burns like unquenched fires. Though you're distant, your love is real,
A love that time cannot steal.

This one is for our dearest Babs.
Because she's our dearest Babs, to us all.
Here, a little hymn, celebrating her

Resurrection

In shadows cast by somber night
There danced a soul, devoid of light
Through veils of pain, she wept and sighed
Bound by demons, she could not hide

But hear me now, for the tale unfolds,
Of one who rose, of strength untold
Her heart entangled in a web of strife,
Aching for a glimmer of renewed life

Once shackled by demons, fierce and cruel
A heart now mended, reborn as a jewel
In the depths of addiction, the spirit waned
But a flame, resilient, inside remained

With courage, she faced the tempest's roar,
Embracing her scars, as they shaped her core
She battled battles, fierce and grand,
Confronting demons with steadfast hand

She danced on shores where laughter sings,
Inhaled the sweetness that freedom brings.
No longer chained to the past's despair,
She bloomed anew, a wildflower rare

In every sunrise and every sunset's glow
Her spirit soared, no longer lying low
For she had conquered the demons within,
And found the love that conquers all sin

Love this. HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

“She sat at the back and they said she was shy,
She led from the front and they hated her pride,
They asked her advice and then questioned her guidance,
They branded her loud, then were shocked by her silence,
When she shared no ambition they said it was sad,
So she told them her dreams and they said she was mad,
They told her they'd listen, then covered their ears,
And gave her a hug while they laughed at her fears,
And she listened to all of it thinking she should,
Be the girl they told her to be best as she could,
But one day she asked what was best for herself,
Instead of trying to please everyone else,
So she walked to the forest and stood with the trees,
She heard the wind whisper and dance with the leaves,
She spoke to the willow, the elm and the pine,
And she told them what she'd been told time after time,
She told them she felt she was never enough,
She was either too little or far far too much,
Too loud or too quiet, too fierce or too weak,
Too wise or too foolish, too bold or too meek,
Then she found a small clearing surrounded by firs,
And she stopped...and she heard what the trees said to her,
And she sat there for hours not wanting to leave,
For the forest said nothing, it just let her breathe"

Dancing in the Rain

As I was dancing in the rain
The thunder was my music,
And to represent my pain
Was the lightning, so sporadic.

The rain provided rhythm,
And the wind caused me to sway.
The puddles rose and with them
Was my hope not far away.

For sometimes scarce was the lightning,
Almost as if it wasn’t there.
But other times it was so frightening
All I could do was stare.

But in the back of my mind I knew,
No matter how violent the storm,
The wind would soon be blowing through,
And the pain would soon be gone.

So I’ll continue to dance in the rain,
And maybe sing a song or two.
It doesn’t matter what they’ll say
Because I know I will get through.
