There have got to be religions without love. I mean, 5,000+ chances...
="SexyAsianBitch, post: 1110254, a person cannot be attached to any one thing because this thing can cause suffering.
If I am correct gaining with effort is fine, it is to also not have an attachment to the "fruits of your labour" or what you have gained. If you gain material possessions through hard work then that is completely fine. A lot of people incorrectly believe you need to give away everything to be a good Buddhist. Buddhism encourages gaining material possessions through hard work. It is when you gain material goods without working for it that is the problem
I have issues with the statement in the thread title tbh.
1. What is 'true' religion?
2. To love what exactly?
Surely most religions serve as a moral framework to base your life around and can include references and teachings on retribution, an eye for an eye, systems of self-governance, commandments, etc. In fact the only religion I can think of that promotes love as a core tenet is one of the abrahamic ones; Christianity.
Unsure about Buddhism, maybe they teach abstract notions of loving something too. I always thought theirs was one indifference to everything, dunno.
Why is gaining stuff at no cost a bad thing? We live only once. However well-meaning some religions are, they don't matter once we're dead.
Both material and ideal things?
(laughing) Both statements would depend on your religion and your religious beliefs. Some would say that your religious beliefs are only important once your body is dead!
One thing that could "matter," could mean 5,000 different things on the "afterlife," as there are over 5,000 religions. Convince me that all 5,000 different meaning regarding same thing do matter. (laughing)
This doesn’t hold up. If you apply this logic consistently, no one could ever have any option on nearly any philosophical question, because in doing so, you would be claiming the thousands of others views were wrong, and yours was right. But this is itself a philosophical position. Therefore, your view is self refuting.Either all religions are correct or none are. You can't believe one thing and dismiss 4,999 others. It's so rude. There are older religions as well, which are laughing at new false religions. (laughing)

That's precisely what many religions do. Some even kill for that.
