true religion is to love

Uhh, did you just mix science with religion and attempt to pass off science as make-belief or magic? (smiles)

Science is just a set of theories and beliefs, based more or less loosely on facts, that evolve through repeated use of the scientific process. Scientific beliefs often change over time. That doesn't mean they are not 'correct' or 'true'. They help expand our understanding of 'reality'.

Pseudo-science =/= science

(smile) Yes, two different concepts. I am a scientist and I am talking about science, not pseudoscience. Science is based on the scientific method, making conjectures, deriving predictions from them as logical consequences, and then carrying out experiments or empirical observations based on those predictions. The problem is that we are human and conjectures become beliefs, predictions get skewed and experiments become consciously or unconsciously designed to reinforce our conjectures. It is not unusual to have the same conjecture validated and refuted by different experiments. Through peer review and further studies, we can overcome some of our limitations, but science is not absolute.

I still believe in using science as one of the key bases for our decisions.

Conjectures. You keep mentioning that, I am not sure you know what that means.

Let us make a conjecture that "Eating cheese reduces the risk of colon cancer." That is a concept/statement that we want to validate or refute. It may be something we believe to be true or it may be something our sponsor believes to be true. We derive some predictions: If we include more cheese in our diet, then fewer people will die of colon cancer. If we include more cheese in our diet, then people will live longer before dying of colon cancer. Then we design an experiment and follow people over time. One group continues to eat hamburgers for lunch and the other group eats grilled cheese sandwiches instead. After five years, the group that ate cheese had fewer deaths than the group that ate hamburgers and those that did die of colon cancer lived longer on average. We may conclude that our conjecture is true and get further grants from the dairy industry.

Now another group conducts the same experiment, but instead of replacing hamburgers, they replace salads. The results now show that more people in the cheese group die of colon cancer, so that refutes our conjecture or hypothesis. Eating more cheese only reduces the risk of colon cancer, if it replaces hamburgers from our diet. It actually increases our risk, if we replace healthy salads instead.

I guess some of you will just laugh at what I'm gonna say but honestly I guess it's super easy if you think about it and it's all in the title, well why can't Love be the true religion, you love GOD, you love your parents, your wife, your husband, you love food, you love way too many things, and it makes you happy.
Isn't Religion all about making people peaceful and happy on the inside and outside. So why dig deep into scientific explanations and books and go on google to research when the answer is just plain simple. LOVE is the TRUE Religion.

(not laughing) Religion has nothing to do with making people peaceful and happy. The Spanish Inquisition certainly didn't, neither did the Crusades. Love doesn't either! How many murders are committed because we love someone?

Religion is a collection of beliefs about God or the Creator. Love is a feeling or emotion, like sadness and happiness and hate. We can talk about the role of love in religion, but equating them makes no sense.

(o_O) Science is study and knowledge based on facts derived from observations and experimentation, not a set of silly, unproven beliefs religions run on. Religions have come and gone, each different from the other. Scientific experiment outcomes and facts will remain the same forever. Cognitive dissonance much?

Some questions just require faith.
And actually u're gonna keep debating about this subject from now till kingdom come, and u won't agree with anyone, religion whatever it is, is guidelines made to make people follow rules in certain ways, but the thick skull of the human being understands it differently from one man to the other, not all agree on one meaning of the bible or the quran or the kabbalah, every person read religion the way he or she wants to snd that's why all those inquisitons and massacres happened in the name of GOD and GOD nevet said kill in my name, he said tbough shall not kill. So try to debate or to figure out a solution to this is kinda like trying to answer what is life and why are here...

I am not really debating whether "True religion is love." or "Love is true religion." I am stating that neither makes any more sense than "Science is love." or "Love is a new born Puppy." It is a good heading for a forum topic that allows us to explore related issues and I am done debating or explaining my thoughts on the topic heading!

Maybe what you are saying is that "The right religion for someone is the one that helps them experience love and happiness." Most of us inherit our religious beliefs from our parents, our family, our friends or our teachers. Religion helps us answer the questions we have about the purpose of life, why we are here and how we should behave. It provides a framework for our lives. As we mature and develop critical thinking, we may question some of those beliefs and explore others that suit us better in our everyday life and that help us reconcile some of the contradictions we encounter. That has been my experience and my religious beliefs have evolved over time.

Religion requires faith and interpretation. It may or may not depend on history, scriptures, facts or science for credibility and acceptance. Religion is personal. We each have our own set of beliefs that may or may not adhere to those of a particular religion. Not all Christians have the same belief system, though most believe in the same core principles. I respect everyone's choices when it comes to religion and do not believe that their choices are right or wrong. They are what they are and I hope they work well for them.

Faith in drivel. All religions could be defined as "Mumbo jumbo," while science is reproducible, undeniable facts.

(laughing) Science is not a set of silly unproven beliefs like religion. It would never maintain that the earth is flat or the earth is the center of the Universe! (sarcasm)

The world is flat. The earth is the center of the Universe. The sun revolves around the earth. The atom is the smallest particle in existence. Atoms are indivisible and indestructible. There are three states of matter. Spontaneous generation and transmutation of species. All are beliefs accepted by the scientific community as facts or truisms. All have been discredited. Scientific knowledge is constantly changing and what is believed to be true today, may turn out to be totally or partially wrong tomorrow.

Science and religion are both necessary and both serve a purpose. They are not in conflict with each other.

I am sure that your religious beliefs work for you!

Put down the crack pipe. Lol

Which brings me back to the topic.

As per empirical evidence, religion is not love, but rather war, genocide, hate and all sorts of mumbo jumbo 5,000 times over (which one is the true religion? lol). Love, meanwhile, is brain chemicals, discovered by science.

Well, as I was saying, I believe the true religion is the one that you have accepted as your own.

(smile) I am so glad that science discovered love! Where would we be without it! (sarcasm)

To be technical. Science did not discover love, a psychologist did. Psychology is not a science because it does not meet the five basic requirements for a field to be considered scientifically rigorous: clearly defined terminology, quantifiability, highly controlled experimental conditions, reproducibility and, finally, predictability and testability.

To be technical, love preceded homo sapiens, so I am pretty sure neither science nor psychology discovered it. They may have discovered how it works, or at least come up with a conjecture or two that they were able to validate. (smile)

God showed us the truth in his word but not everyone agrees with the truth . God is Love it doesn’t mean he will not punish us for our trangressions

God is love. Religion is following someone else's beliefs. in my opinion.
